It’s Spring…right?
The calendar on my desk says it’s Spring. All the ads I see on TV promise all types of sales involving puns about Spring. All the seasonal restaurants starting to open up tell me it’s Spring…but there’s one big, unavoidable obstacle that everyone is facing for us to fully enjoy the season, and that’s the weather.
Walking up to snow on my car this morning did not lead me to believe it’s actually Spring. Still having to wear my winter coat every day also doesn’t help me enjoy this season of renewal. The trees are still bare, cars are still dirty, and heaters are still warming up our homes every night.
I think we’re all in agreement that Winter has overstayed it’s welcome (not that it was ever really welcome in the first place). It had its moment in the spotlight, but now it’s time for it to retire for the year. April will only be around for a few more weeks, and yet we can’t put away our heavy sweaters and coats because you refuse to leave.
Spring is such an amazing season because it gives us a chance to open up the windows, feel the sunshine that we’ve been deprived of, and really enjoy the great outdoors. But thanks to the longest Winter of our lives, we haven’t gotten to really enjoy any of that yet. But trust me, as soon as Winter does decide to let Spring have the spotlight, I’ll be outside, enjoying the day with the biggest ice cream cone you’ve ever seen. I can’t wait!
