Hancock County Health Rankings Slip According To Report

An increase in the number of people dying before the age of 75 led to Hancock County sliding back a few spots in an annual health report. CountyHealthRankings.org now lists Hancock County 24th in Ohio for “health outcomes.” That’s down four spots from last year.

Health outcomes factor in things like how long people live and how healthy people feel while they are alive.

The county also slipped a little in the “health factors” ranking, going from 8th to 14th. We saw increases in adult obesity and physical inactivity in the 2019 report. Health factors include things healthy behaviors, access to clinical care, social and economic factors, and our physical environment.

Positive notes from the report show Hancock County saw improvements in the number of people graduating high school, the number of children living in poverty, and income inequality.
